Night rain leaves part of Warri submerged

Breaking news: Warri metropolis flooded

A heavy night rain which lasted over eight hours has led to several areas of Warri, the oil city submerged with many unable to come out.

The rain which led to many streets and houses has turned houses to ponds with residents bailing out water with buckets and basins as at the time of filling this report.

According to Amarachi, a resident of Iyara, "We are trapped inside our compound, no one can come out. Our property have been packed upon the bed. The water in my house is kneel level.

"We are using buckets to bail out the water, we are stranded right now. We need a boat to come out."

Anthony, a resident of Ogiyede area of Warri said, "We are in trouble, we are praying that this rain should stop if not we will be homeless. I am swimming in my apartment right now."

Also, Daniel, a resident of Olomu street and student of Collage of Education, Warri said, This rain has caused us flooding, i was woken up as my foam was soaked, there is nothing i can do now but to sit on my plastic chair and suspend my leg.

The rain has led to many roads being flooded, the Walter Odeli street, 3rd Marine Gate, Ogiyede, Ikpara road in Iyara and Airport road by Immigration service are under water as at press time.
