Onowakpo bows out gallantly


The immediate past Executive Chairman, Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, DBIR, Hon. Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, on Monday officially handed over to Mr. Jonas Onwochei, most senior Director, as he expressed gratitude to former Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for giving him the opportunity to serve the people of the state.
Thomas made the brief hand over after a short speech at the headquarters of DBIR, Warri, Delta State on Monday.
According to him, “In the journey of life, a phase in my life has just been closed with the formal handing over of the administration of Delta State Board of Internal Revenue, a position I occupied from July 24, 2009 to September 22, 2015.
“My eternal gratitude goes to God Almighty in whose name all things are possible. My thanks go to the former Executive Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan CON who gave me the opportunity to be in public service.
“My immeasurable thanks go to the Executive Governor of Delta State, Dr. Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, a man who taught me the rudiments of public service under the close supervision of Hon. Tony Nwaka. My appreciations to my ancestral and covenant brother, the former SSG to Delta State, Comrade Ovuozorie Macaulay.
‘Today, I am bowing out of the services of the Board with a heavy heart but it is inevitable. I will miss you and your fellowship, as I leave; I want you to give much more support to the incoming administration so that BIR banner will be lifted higher.
“I am therefore taking a bow to the four corners of the universe signaling my exit from BIR. God bless you and may God guide us in our future endeavours until we meet again.”
In his speech, after receiving the hand over note, the Director of Operations in DBIR, Mr. Jonas Onwochei, said that even though they were aware that their tenure would come to an end one day, they never expected it to come so soon.

He however, thanked God for making it possible them to meet, just S he expressed gratitude meet to God for the modest achievement they made together and wished them wished them more successes in the future.
