Bank manager, dispatch rider in police net for foiled bank robbery


WARRI - A bank operations manager, and dispatch riders of Enterprise Bank in Effurun, Delta State are cooling off in police custody after a foil bank robbery attempt.

Police apprehended the duo shortly after the foiled robbery repelled by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad! SARS on the 4th September, 2015.

This was revealed yesterday in a Press statement by DSP Celestina Kalu, Delta State Police Public Relations Officer.

According to her, "Following credible information that a gang of armed robbers had finalised plans to rob Enterprise Bank Plc, Effurun/Sapele Road, by Refinery Junction, Warri, operatives of SARS mounted Surveillance around the Bank. 

"And at about 1723hrs of the aforementioned date, the hoodlums invaded the said Bank, but they were successfully repelled by a combined team of SARS operatives and mobile policemen on duty at the Bank.
 
"Meanwhile, the operation manager of the Bank, one Francis Enebeme ‘m’, and one Wilfred Akah ‘m’, the Bank’s despatch rider who were allegedly involved in the planning and execution of the foiled robbery operation have been arrested and are undergoing investigation.

"Various sums of money hidden in the offices by the suspects were equally recovered."

Kalu added that Police investigation is ongoing.
