Devastating flood has killed a six-year-old boy, just as 116 communities have been completely submerged according to the Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency on Friday.
Mr. Haruna Furo, Executive Secretary of the agency, told journalists in Yola that two-thirds of the state currently face the threat of flood.
He said that 12 local government areas of the 21 in the state were devastated by the flood.
Furo revealed that the the cause of the flood was the release of huge volume of water from Kiri dam in Guyuk, Magar dam in Madagali and Lagdo dam from Cameroun Republic.
Areas affected according to Furo are Shelleng, Guyuk, Numan, Demsa, Girei, Mubi North, Mubi South, Madagali, Maha, Yola South.and Lamurde local government areas.
In his words, “Between Thursday and today, about 20 more communities have been affected. The situation is becoming worrisome as thousands of people are trapped.
“There is need for urgent intervention from the Federal Government,” Furo said.
