Group accuses Ayiri of pipeline bombing

WARRI IJAW PEACE MONITORING GROUP (WIPMG)
Press Statement

AYIRI EMAMI, APC CHIEFTAIN IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE RECENT PIPELINE VANDALISM IN THE NIGER DELTA CREEKS

Information reaching us indicates that the cause of the recent pipeline vandalization in the creeks of the Niger Delta region is as a result of the award of the repair and surveillance of the crude oil pipeline that carries oil from Escravos to Warri.

The contract to repair previous damages in the pipeline and surveillance was awarded to one Messers Ocean Marine, which does not go down well with one Ayiri Emami, an indigene of Ugborodo and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).  Ayiri Emami had wanted the contract, but it was later awarded to the above named company.  Emami protested vehemently that, the contract must be awarded to him, otherwise, there will not be peace in the job, which even took him to the Group Managing Director (GMD) and Minister of Petroleum for state, Dr. Ibe Kachukwu.  The minister did not agree with him on the issue, therefore Ayiri Emami mobilized his followers and carried out the destruction of the crude oil pipeline including the gas line last week.

And now, Ayiri Emami and other APC chieftains are putting the blame on Tompolo because of the bench warrant of arrest imposed on him by a court in Lagos.

Emami did not stop there, but led the army authority to the points that were vandalized by him yesterday.  How could Emami locate the points with ease if he does not know anything about the vandalization of the pipelines?  He carried out the destruction and led the army to the points to show that he is more on ground to do the surveillance he has vowed to take over from Ocean Marine.

He has even gone ahead to use the army to embarrass and harass Tompolo and his water front in Warri, in the pretence that it was Tompolo that carried out the act.

Emami must be closely watched, otherwise he is going to cause another ethnic crisis between the Ijaws and the Itsekiris, as he has alluded to in his recent press briefing.

As for we the Ijaws, we are not ready for any crisis and military invasion because our people have suffered a lot of untold hardship in the hands of the Nigerian military and Government.

We are therefore using this medium to appeal to the Federal Government and its law enforcement agencies to look inward and ravel the truth in this issue.
