Delta Police apprehend cultists, recover arm and ammunitions

THE Delta State Police Command has arrested suspected cultists, just as they recover arm and ammunitions from suspects.

This was contained in a press release by DSP Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command.

 According to him, "On the 5/4/2022 at about 1430hrs, acting on credible information, operatives attached to the Command Raiders squad raided a suspected cultists hideout at Umudiake Quarters, Aningene Community Asaba in Oshimili South LGA, during which one Oaman Mathias ‘m’ 41yrs was arrested and one (1) English made pump action gun and thirty-three (33) live cartridges were recovered. Investigation is ongoing.   

"In another development, on the 5/4/2022 at about 1630hrs, a distress call was received by the DPO Ozoro Division, that some hoodlums numbering about seven, suspected to be armed robbers, were in a criminal hideout along Oleh road, Ozoro. 

"The DPO Ozoro mobilized a combined team of  police operatives and Vigilantes, who stormed their hideout and arrested one Solomon Awah Obaize ‘m’ age 18yrs and Oghenayoma  Awah  ‘m’ age 20yrs both of Oleh road, Ozoro in Isoko north LGA, while others escaped. One (1) locally made Berretta pistol was recovered from them. 

"Investigation revealed that the suspects procured the gun from a man (Name unknown) in Igbide community, for one hundred and sixty thousand naira (N160, 000). Manhunt for the fleeing suspects is being intensified. Meanwhile, investigation is still ongoing.

"The Commissioner of Police during an interactive session at the Police Officers Mess, Okwe, Asaba, with Vigilantes, Anti-Cult volunteers, and the Anioma Security Watch, appreciated their efforts in the fight against crime and criminality. 

"He opined that the successes that has been recorded so far can also be attributed to their collaborative efforts with the Command, and prayed God to reward them abundantly. 

"The CP also warned in strong terms that, abuse of human rights, extortion, and misuse of firearm, will not be tolerated under his watch, hence, the need to be professional always cannot be overemphasized. The CP urged residents of the state to trust the Police and help with useful information that will aid the Command in flushing out criminal elements in the State." It added
