WARRI – TRAGEDY struck Monday evening at Otokuto, Ughelli-South Local Government Area of Delta State as a fatal accident left a married woman dead with two others hospitalized and in critical condition.
The tragic incident according to an eye witness account occurred at about 7pm along the ever busy DSC Expressway near the Otokutu junction as the two vehicles clashed in a head on collision.
Vanguard gathered that the dead woman was cruising in a ash coloured Toyota Camry with Lagos registration number APP 583 AC against traffic in a wrong lane rammed into an oncoming Iveco truck before flying into the pavement and making a u-turn.
Eyewitness said the woman died immediately as her body was shattered from the collision while the driver and another occupant of the truck were seriously injured and are in critical condition.
When Vanguard visited the scene, policemen from the Out-Jeremi police station were seen placing caution signs, just as they engaged husband of the late woman and family members in a chat.
The accident caused serious vehicular traffic with sympathizers discussing the ugly incident, blaming the woman for driving a wrong lane in the express against traffic.
Relatives of the victims were not ready o speak on the incident, just as police in frantic efforts embarked on removing the two vehicles from the road to avert another accidents.
Bodily flesh, blood and other items were seen scattered over the woman’s Camry following the battle to remove the mangled body from the car by cutting the vehicle with axe. The remains of the dead woman has been deposited in a morgue as at the time of filling this report.
Contacted, Delta State Police Public Reltaions Officer, Mrs. Celestina Kalu, a Deputy Supritendent of Police said, “I have called the Divisional Police Officer in the area, he confirmed it and said he has sent a team to investigate what happened.”
