Michael Ibru dies at 85

THE Urhobo nation is in a grief over the lost of it's foremost entrepreneur and role model, Olorogun Michael Ibru, the Otota of Agbarha-Otor and Patriarch of the Ibru dynasty.

Ibru who owned chains of multinational companies died after losing his health battle at 85.

Mourning Ibru, Olorogun John Ewenede, Secretary, Olomu Traditional Council of Chiefs said that Olomu kingdom has lost an irreplaceable son.

"We lost our pillar, a great man of astute height whose shade covers so many people. He changed the lives of several hundreds, his root in culture is incomparable.

"We mourn the departure of one of our highest Chief, Father, brother and son. We sympathize with the Ibru family and Olorogun Macaulay Ovbagbedia, Otota of Olomu who lost his brother."

In his lamentations, Barr. Samuel Mariere, Member representing Ughell North constituency I in the Delta House of Assembly described Ibru as an Iroko.

"An Iroko has fallen!" He screamed. "I commensurate with the entire Ibru Family and Agbarha Otor clan for the loss of an icon and a rare Gem,Olorogun Michael Ibru"

Mariere further said that everyone is like a book' and it's just a matter of opening your page to see if you either had a good or bad reputation before journeying to the great.

Community Voice can report authoritatively that Michael Ibru born in 1930 was one of the greatest Nigerian entrepreneur. He hails from Agbarha-Otor, Delta State.  

Ibru was the owner of Oceanic Bank, and owned Ibru University, Superbru, Michelle Farms, Aero Contractor. Ibachem, Ibru Fisheries etc.

He will be sorely missed by the Urhobo nation.
