SURVEILLANCE CONTRACT: Arewa youths should focus on insecurity in the North - EX MEND Commander

By Akpokona Omafuaire

WARRI - WORRIED by the incessant attacks on High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, a.k.a Tompolo by a section of  Arewa Youth Groups over the surveillance contract awarded by the federal government, Commander, Movement for Emancipation of Niger Delta, MEND, Josiah Oyakongha a.k.a Commander Oyimi 1 has warned  that such attacks are a declaration against the people of the Niger Delta.

Commander Oyimi 1 who doubles as

Chairman of Movement for the Actualisation of the Dreams of Niger Deltans (MADND),  said that the Northern youths should rather focused on resolving the insecurity situation in the North.

Oyimi 1 made the call yesterday in a press statement he personally signed in Warri, Delta State.

According to him, "Our attention was drawn to the publication in punch newspapers, which was credited to, “The Amalgamated Arewa Youth Groups,” a coalition of 225 youth groups mainly from the northern extraction of Nigeria.

"Ordinarily, we ought not to respond: reason being that a golden fish has no hiding place. In other words, a big name who is focused on his destination will always attract small names in distracting him for the task of his mission ahead.

"However, we know our respected leader; High Chief Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo is a focused and committed, yet detribalized leader who has no enemy even in the face of a pure mischief by this group will always work for the overall good of Nigeria.

"But, it is so disgraceful, shameful and very unfortunate that this clown group has got nothing to offer, rather being obsessed with our most respected leader; High Chief Government Ekpemupolo who has given his all for the peace, development and unity of Nigeria.

"Instead for this clown group, “The Amalgamated Arewa Youth Groups” to be concerned with the insecurity challenges ongoing in the North, just as the way our respected leader; GOC is preoccupied in providing solutions with regard to oil theft and other social vices in the Niger Delta region.

"Hence, in strong terms we warn, the “Amalgamated Arewa Youth Groups,” to be careful with their hate and smear campaigns about our respected leader; Tompolo has sacrificed a lot for the peace, unity and oneness of Nigeria, we will not sit and watch clowns to drag his name to the mud.

"As former warlords of the Defunct Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) and members of the Movement for the Actualisation of the Dreams of Niger Deltans (MADND)- we emphasize that we will not condone such provocative and cheap blackmails against High Chief Ekpemupolo.

"And indeed declaring a 7-day ultimatum for the FGN or its agent (NNPC) for them to revoke the contract or be forced for a protest or embark on a legal action, is a sign of cowardice and a public declaration of enmity against the Niger Delta and its people.

"We, therefore, advise “The Amalgamated Arewa Youth Groups” to invest their resources and resourcefulness in providing solutions to the economic and insecurity challenges bedeviling our country and leave Tompolo from the pages of newspapers.

"TOMPOLO is focused, he has already met with stakeholders in providing solutions to oil theft, pipeline vandalism, which will resuscitate Nigeria’s economy. To be forewarned is to be forearmed!" The statement added.
