Navy destroyed illegal refineries with 8,000 metric tons of crude oil in Delta communities

‎Navy destroyed illegal refineries with over 8,000 metric tons of crude oil in Delta State
*48 underground reservoirs, ‎200 metric tons of diesel destroyed too
* arrest five truck loads of refined product
*communities to forfeit lands use for illegal operations

WARRI - THE Nigerian Navy Ship, NNS, Delta on Wednesday destroyed 48 (50 X50) underground storage reservoirs, several thousand drums, 8,000 metric tons of crude oil and 200 metric tons of refined Automotive Ga‎soline Oil (Diesel) in Warri South and Warri South West areas of Delta state, in its bid to end illegal oil bunkering in the area.

The feat was achieved in a twin operations coordinated by Commodore Raimi O. Mohammed, Commanding Officer, NNS Delta using new approach.

The operation which lasted almost a full day led to destruction of unquantifiable numbers of refining camps, crude oil, refined products, hoses, generating sets, pumping machines, very large surface and underground tanks in an area stretching over one kilometre behind Bennett Island.

Illegal refining camp touted as 'refining depot' with its refining accessories, huge underground reservoirs, surfaced tanks and drums in area stretching over a kilometre at Kantu community in Warri South West were also destroyed.

According to Mohammed, "We have been destroying illegal refineries but they keep springing up. The communities should  share in the blame because they know the perpetrators.

"When we will file our reports, our suggestion to the federal government will be that any land use for illegal refineries be forfeited to the government as it appears the communities don't need the lands hence they allowed it to be destroyed.

"We had a meeting with 38 communities representatives from Warri South and Warri South West with a view to stemming the tide, if they refused to comply they will stand a chance of losing such lands.

"We have put in place measures that our men don't collude with the operators. In the past, we have arrested some members of task force and vigilante who colluded with them."

The Commanding Officer revealed that the new strategy is to stop the supply and demand of illegally refined products.

"Navy is determined that whoever is involved in the illegality will be arrested. We have shifted attention also to arresting those with refined products also.

"We have arrested five trailers loaded with refined products. We are tackling the supply and demand ends."

Okerenkoko deny media reoprt calling on EFCC to investigate Tompolo

By Akpokona Omafuaire
WARRI – THE Okerenkoko Federated Communities of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South West Council Area of Delta State has denied and rubbished media reports credited to it in the national and online media, as calling on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to investigate High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, a.k.a Tompolo over sale of community land.
In a statement signed by Chief James Tangbowei, Chairman, Mr. Monday Meyefa, Vice Chairman, Comrade Ernest Bebenimibo, Secretary, Joel Ekpebide, P.R.O the community insisted that they neither spoke nor mandated anyone to speak for them.
The statement which read, “Our attention has been drawn to various newspapers reports, the Paradigm, Vanguard etc with caption, ‘N13b Varsity land: Okerenkoko leaders back EFCC to probe Tompolo’ with a rider, ‘We got only N360 for the land’ which was credited to Michael Johnny.
“We make bold to say that the author had no backing of leadership of the community, neither was he mandated to speak for the community. He can speak for himself as an individual but not for the community.
“Again, it is very unfortunate that the author does not know the crux of Tompolo’s invitation by EFCC as it has nothing to do with the community land acquisition for the permanent site of the University. The acquisition of the permanent site was concluded amicably and even the author got his fare share from the sale.
“To educate the author and the general public, Tompolo’s invitation has nothing to do with sale of community land but the sale of his vastly developed personal property at Kurutie community which he had built for his Diving school which was legally acquired by the Federal Government as a take-off campus of the school.
“The property in question from our enquiry was valued at N15billion but was sold for N13billion after bargains and was perfected and signed by authorities of the federal government. So those who have personal vendetta and scores to settle with the High Chief should distance the community name in such frolic.
"Because of the misinformation that is being peddled, our community account has also been frozen, we wonder why the EFCC should embark on an unnecessary war against us. this surely is the handiwork of our enemies but we shall remain peaceful.
“Tompolo is our hero and an illustrious son in whom we are proud. His battle for emancipation of the Ijaw nation against the marginalization by the federal is well known. We warn his persecutors should tread with caution and not drag the name of the community and kingdom into mud.”

Chevron and total struggle for third place

Chevron struggles with TOTAL for the third place Relative size of operatorship does not always match equity share

ExxonMobil’s not just the largest equity crude producer in Nigeria; it has moved to tie up with Shell in operated production. This is official; the data was shared by Victor Adeniran, Group Executive Director of Commercial and Investment Division in the state hydrocarbon company, NNPC, at a conference of petroleum  geologists in Lagos recently.

ExxonMobil and Shell accounted for 27% each of the country’s operated production in 20114, Mr. Adeniran, a former General Manager at TOTAL, showed. ExxonMobil moved slightly up from 26% of operated production in 2007; whereas Shell’s share as operator plunged from 34% in the same seven year period, to 27%, due, predictably, to the various divestments. In the same period, operated production of Nigerian independents surged from 1% to 10%, NNPC data indicates.

Chevron’s contribution as an operator fell from 16% to 11%, just as TOTAL inched up by one percentage point, to11%.

Italian giant ENI brings up the rear of the majors in Nigeria, as an operator.

The data projects that Nigerian independents share of operatorship will treble by 2020, to 30%.

Still, a company’s share of operatorship does not translate to actual share of equity production, which is the real value, as it is determines the volume of crude oil it is entitled to lift. Last April, this website reported that ExxonMobil’s net crude oil output in Nigeria in 2014 averaged 298,000BOPD, the highest liquid hydrocarbon volume credited to a single company in the country. Chevron came second with 240,000BOPD, more than half of which was delivered by a single oil field: Agbami.

Shell’s Nigerian crude oil production, at 191,000BOPD net, was the third largest daily crude oil output by any major company. TOTAL is the fourth at 156, 164BOPD. The figures are all from the companies’ just released annual reports.  These figures exclude natural gas production.

Utorogun gas plant yet to produce any gas

Those hoping that Utorogun gas plant will start working should hope longer.

Despite Nigeria having a brand new gas processing plant capable of processing one hundred and fifty million standard cubic feet of gas per day (150MMscf/d). But not a single molecule of natural gas has been introduced into the facility.
When it comes on stream, the Utorogu NAG 2 Plant will be the second gas processing plant to be commissioned in the country in 2015. With Seplat’s 150MMscf/d plant hooked up in February 2015, Nigeria has added 300MMscf/d of gas processing capacity in the last eight months.

But capacity does not always translate to actual delivery, especially in the Nigerian energy sector. The new train has not been hooked up yet so it is not processing any gas. Utorogu NAG 1, the first plant in Utorogu, a gas rich field in the Western Niger Basin, was designed to process over 400MMscf/d. In August 2015, its output was 297MMscf/d, or less than 75% of capacity.

Frontier Oil/Seven Energy’s Esit Plant in Eket in the southeastern Niger Delta has the capacity for 200MMscf/d. In August 2015, its output was less than 100MMscf/d, largely because there were not enough offtakers; even though three power plants in the neighbourhood have the capacity to absorb the entire volume, not all their turbines are being fired. The reasons for power shortfall in Nigeria are as much about idle capacity as they are about inadequate infrastructure.

Sources at the NPDC, the state hydrocarbon company which operates the Oil Mining Lease (OML) 34, in which the Utorogu field is located, say the delay in hook up is  due to some operational challenges, but the entire work will be through by October 10 2015.  “That’s the current schedule”, the sources  explain, adding “We have the capacity to deliver more gas than offtake”

Chevron commits N16billion to GMoU in Nigeria

ASABA – CHEVRON Nigeria Limited, CNL, has committed over N16 billion in its Global Memorandun of Understanding, GMoU for the past ten year in its operational areas in Nigeria which has led to improved relationship with host communities.
This was revealed Friday during the two day Media Capacity Building for Journalists organized by NNPC/Chevron joint venture yesterday in Asaba, Delta State.
Olatunji Idowu, Manager, Social Performance and Planning, CNL, made the revelation during his lecture on 10 years of GMoU – Chevron CE strategy in the Niger Delta.
He stated that the policy is aimed at the placing more emphasis on projects and programs that will enhance sustainable economic empowerment, employment generation and alightment with the sustainable development goals.
On her part, Mrs. Clementina Arubi, Deputy Manager, Community Development ‘B’ of the Public Affairs Department, PAD, NNPC-NAPIMS calls for joint efforts in curbing the hydra-headed monster of pipeline vandalism which has become a recurring decimal in the oil industry.
Arubi made the call in her lecture titled “Securing the operational environment and eliminating oil theft and pipeline sabotage.”
According to her there have been 2005 breakages of pipeline between January to September, this year alone.
The Deputy Manager lamented that between 2009 and 2011, 136million barrel worth of 10.9billion dollar was lost to crude oil theft and pipeline sabotage.
She listed some practical ways of eliminating oil theft and pipeline sabotage to include; continuous education, sensitization and creation of awareness of the communities on the dangers of vandalism, continuous monitoring of the pipelines and more improved skill acquisition programme.
The Manager, Offshore Assets- Chevron Nigeria Limited, James Okereke, called for increased funding of the joint venture to be able to remain competitive in the long haul, insisting that the lack of which will discourage investors in committing to further investment which is needed to drive the oil sector.
Okereke lamented that while production of crude oil is increasing globally, Nigeria production is declining steadily. He assured that despite the gloomy situation, Chevron Nigeria Limited is in the country to continue oil business backed with large oil and gas reserve base and technology to unlock the potentials.
He noted that there has been a drastic drop in the national revenue generation owing to geometric drop in the price of crude oil which was occasioned by increase in global crude oil supply amidst diminishing demand.
Okereke further said that to keep production stable, new developments and investment are needed to offset the natural decline.

The company also tasked journalists on serious investigative reporting, insisting that its the hallmark of their responsibility to the country.

Delta State university uncovers cultists recruitment technique

By Akpokona Omafuaire

WARRI - ‎THE Delta State University authority has uncover a subtle recruitment method by cult groups in the institution with sales of pamphlets called the Anchor.

It also refuted a publication allegedly sponsored by a group, Deltans United against cultism against the institution in banning the sale of Anchor pamphlet in the school, saying it was to mislead the public.

This revelation was conta‎ined in a statement by the University Public Relations Officer, Mr. Edward Agburen yesterday.

Agburen stated that the school authority made the startling findings after a student of the institution had cried to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Victor Peretomode of the threats to his life for failing to help them sell the pamphlets.

The University Image maker said that the authority promptly banned  the sale of the pamphlet and swoop on the group in which one the suspected cultists was arrested who has helped with relevant confessions.

He added that in a fight back, the group embarked on a media campaign of calumny to deceive the public.

According to him, ‎"The attention of the authorities of the Delta State University, Abraka, has been drawn to a misleading publication at page 38 of the Wednesday December 9 edition of the Vanguard newspaper .

"The intention of this rejoinder is to enlighten the general public and put the lie to the claim by the shadowy group called Deltans United against Cultism that sponsored the publication.

"It should be stated categorically, that the pamphlet in contention, the Anchor, has become a smokescreen which cultists and other nefarious elements use in not only initiating unsuspecting students into cultism, but also in robbing others of money and valuable items.

"The university management has been inundated with complaints in recent times about how cultists have taken over the promotion and sale of the Anchor and in so doing lure innocent students into their evil fold.

"A very recent occurrence exposed the bad intention of the elements behind the sale of the Anchor on campus.

"On the 29th of October 2015, a fresh student cried to the Vice Chancellor’s office to narrate his ordeal in the hands of cultists who were intimidating and recruiting new students in the guise of selling the Anchor.

"The modus operandi of the cultists was to sell the pamphlet and give some pro-cult pep talk to the new students as well as give them certain numbers to call at a particular time.

"They also extorted money and other value items from the new students after which they were warned not to disclose what transpired with the threat of dire consequences should they do so.

"The Vice Chancellor, after listening to the shocking story as told by the fresh student, summoned the university’s Chief Security Officer (CSO) and other security agents and raided the spot where the Anchor was being sold.

"The perpetrators of the nefarious act on sighting the VC’s convoy took to their heels in different directions. However, a hot chase by the security agents led to the arrest of one of them, Wisdom Ovie a 200 Level student with matriculation number FOE/13/14/226121.

"Mr. Ovie made very useful confessions to the security agents confirming the use of the sale of the Anchor as a strategy for recruitment of new cultists as well as extortion of money and theft of valuable items from unsuspecting students.

"It is against this background and after investigation that the university management placed a ban on the sale of the Anchor since it has become a veritable means of initiation into cultism, an act that runs against the grain and the intention of the author.

"The University management wishes to state that it has taken proactive measures to curb cultism beyond the mere purchase and possession of the Anchor.

"The Department of Guidance and Counselling, the Faculty of the Social Sciences, the Counselling Centre and religious bodies on campus are now better primed to curb the menace of cultism.

"We urge the Vanguard newspapers and other news media to always cross check reports about the University from the relevant office so that the general public will not be misguided as the sponsors of the publication set out to do."

Baby with sealed eye needs help

The young Omonigho family of Ughoton, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State is facing the challenge of their life to save their heir, who is the second child of their four year marital union.
Master Emmanuel Oghenetejiri was born four months ago healthy but with an unusual condition, his left eye was completely sealed from birth, this strange condition could drain off the joy of having a new son, and put fear into the young heart of the parents.
But the courageous young family took their new bundle as a blessing and a reason to draw more closer to God. On the eight day, when friends and family gathered for the naming ceremony, several thoughts were on the mind of the people, but like a jolt, Elvis Omonigho and his wife, Blessing Omonigho named their son 'Emmanuel" because they truly know that God was with them.
They became apprehensive on discovering that as the boy is growing the sealed eye is bulging out causing pains and discomfort to the little baby.
Though poor and unemployed, the Omonighos went in search of medical help based on advice given them at the Jeddo Health Centre, place of birth of their son. The search which started at the Ekpan Central hospital continued to Delta State Teaching Hospital, Oghara. There, they were told that solution to their son's problem lies in University College Hospital Ibadan but will cost them N500,000 (five hundred thousand Naira).
The quest to raise the medical bills drove the young parents to seek public help, this led to the visit of Vanguard Newspapers to help call for public assistance.
HOW IT ALL STARTED
I am Elvis Omonigho, I am 31 years old, i married my wife Blessing four years ago, we had a two and half year old daughter and this little boy.
When my wife was pregnant, she was duly registered in the government health centre, also she attends native birth care, they attended to her well but I was surprised that when she delivered the baby (Emmanuel) one of his eyes was sealed completely.
Emmanuel was delivered like that but the eye was not bulging out as it is now, so we were asked at the health centre to go to Ekpan Central hospital. When we got there certain tests were conducted and later we were referred to the Delta State University Teaching Hospital in Oghara.
At Oghara we started spending money and they told us that for the situation to be resolved; it requires surgery and that can only be done at the University College Hospital Ibadan that it will cost about N500,000, when this was said my heart failed me because there is no work now, things are so hard now.
THE SEARCH FOR HELP
We made all efforts to get help from the state government but we were being prevented from getting access by government officials that the government is broke, we went to some churches too but there is no help.
So while I was brooding over the situation, someone advised me to seek media help to reach out to good citizens who may be touched to help my son out of his present condition.
I was given assurances that if we can raise the money my son’s life will be saved. I am a bricklayer with no father to assist me. Now it is rainy season and there is no patronage, things are very hard with my family. My son is just four months now.
We have gone to many places to seek for help for our son we went to one hospital in Ekpan where they gave us the UCH Doctor’s number and we called and he promised that they can handle the situation if we can raise the money. All the hospitals we have visited directed us to Ibadan UCH, this is what has given us hope to seek assistance. We have spent so much money looking for solution to this eye problem, even to the point of borrowing, I have ran to meet my relatives for help and even our church it was one of the church members who directed us to you. My son does not have any problems aside the eye issue, he is a very energetic and playful, a very strong boy, we have two kids, a girl and this boy, we have been married for four years now. My wife learnt hair dressing but no money to set her up now.
MOTHER'S PLEA FOR HELP
I am Mrs. Blessing Omonigho, I am 27 years old, a native of Ugbowo in Benin-City. When I gave birth to the baby the eye was sealed but we noticed that as he is growing, the eye is growing out too, I also noticed that the baby is feeling pains in the eye whenever I try to touch it, he will feel pains and want to cry.
I want the general public to help me with money to save my son, we are almost hopeless, we cannot raise the money by ourselves but I know someone will be touched to help us. I have cried to my family members in Benin-City but no hope as it is rainy season.
My church promised to help but it’s a small congregation and a new one too, they don’t have money, so we have to cry out to the public, we don’t want to lose our son. I believe in God as a Christian and I know that God will raise help from anywhere.
REASON FOR THE NAME
I named the baby Emmanuel Oghenetejiri Omonigho because I know God is with us in this problem, also I feel that the boy is a special child, I don’t know why and how this problem came about, so I have to rely on God, he will not disappoint me. I will be the most happiest father if my baby’s problem is resolved, I will dedicate my full life to the service of God.

Revealed... the best sex positions to get pregnant - and it's best when he's on top, says fertility

Missionary, wheelbarrow, cowgirl and doggy-style - everyone has their favourite.
But when it comes to sex positions, which are the most effective at helping you get pregnant?
As the pressures of modern day life bite, couples are waiting later and later to start planning their families.
As a result, over the last two decades fertility problems have increased dramatically, with one in four couples planning to have a baby facing problems conceiving.
There is a host of things you can do to help your chances, improving your diet, abstaining from drinking alcohol and restricting your caffeine intake.
When it comes to the best sex positions to help you get pregnant, Dr Marilyn Glenville, a fertility expert, told Daily Mail Online the key is for the man to be on top
But, fertility expert Dr Marilyn Glenville said the position you and your partner assume during and immediately after having sex, can 'significantly' alter your chances of becoming pregnant.
The reason, she said, lies in passage the sperm take into the vagina, and on to the fallopian tube.
She told Daily Mail Online: 'The man-on-top position has the best chance of getting a woman pregnant.'
But, she cautioned, there are no scientific studies to back up the theory.
'The rationale is that this position allows for deep penetration so the man's sperm can be ejaculated as close to the cervix (the opening of the womb) as possible,' Dr Glenville added.
'This gives the sperm cells a flying start on their long journey.
'The closer they are to the ripe egg waiting in the fallopian tube, several centimetres further up in a woman's body, the more likely they are to reach it.'
She said, logically, any position that goes against gravity, such as the woman on top, or having sex sitting or standing up, 'discourages the sperm's journey upward and is thought to deter conception'.

The good in eating green peas

By Lizzie Parry
Eating plenty of green peas, soybeans, corn and blue cheese, could help you live longer by warding off disease, experts have discovered.
The foods, all rich in a compound called spermidine, could help stave off cancer, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, among others.
Scientists at the Weizmann Institute in Israel discovered that spermidine reverses the body's circadian rhythm, making it 'younger' and less prone to the age-related diseases.
They note that falling levels of polyamines, compounds that are present in all living cells, cause circadian rhythms to slow down.
This effect was reversed by a dietary supplementation containing spermidine, when given to mice.
Senior author, Dr Gad Asher, said: 'This discovery demonstrates the tight intertwining between circadian clocks and metabolism and opens new possibilities for nutritional interventions that modulate the clock's function.
'Impaired circadian rhythmicity has been linked to a wide variety of age-related diseases, including cancer, Alzheimer,s

9-year old wants justice for slain mother

Mrs. Comfort Indongesit Udoh looked forward with great expectation to the first birthday of her fourth child, Elijah Udoh.  This is because Elijah’s birthday fell on same day with the country’s Independence anniversary, October 1.   Infact, preparation towards the ceremony was reportedly first discussed with her husband two months ago where a conclusion was reached to mark it in a low key with families and friends.
family33Unfortunately, the D-day came last Thursday but she never lived to witness it, no thanks to a bullet from a Police Corporal attached to the Isheri Osun division which shattered her skull.
The deceased, Mrs Udoh, in the company of her  husband , Mr Godwin Sunday Udoh and their four children:  Mary (12) , Blessing (9), Abraham (7) and Elijah who was then 11 months old, reportedly left their Idimu abode in a tricycle driven by Mr Udoh, on September   16, 2015.
Tricycle operator
Destination was the Gospel of Faith Church  situated in Ijegun to attend a vigil. Time was 11pm.  However , they were accosted by a Police Corporal  along Ijegun Road who allegedly demanded for N2000 from the supposed tricycle operator for driving late.
Explanation by Udoh that the people  in the tricycle were members of his family and not passengers as claimed by the policeman fell on deaf ears.
At that moment, his wife, Idongesit Comfort, who was carrying  their youngest child , Elijah, reportedly alighted  from the tricycle and showed the policeman her Bible, with an explanation that she was not a passenger as assumed , but the operator’s wife.
But the Police Corporal, Musefiu Aremu,  was said to have insisted on getting his money. Apparently angry at his defiance, Udoh reportedly entered  his tricycle, with his wife following behind. But to the shock of all , Corporal Aremu said to have  earlier threatened to shoot if Udoh attempted to move the tricycle from the spot, made true his threat as he released two bullets  from his AK 47 rifle.
One of the bullets reportedly hit Mrs Udoh , who fell off the tricycle with Elijah on her bosom. The bullet was said to have pierced her skull and hit Udoh in the jaw.
While Udoh lived to tell the tale, that unfortunately was not the case with his wife,  as she reportedly died moments before reaching the hospital.
When Vanguard Metro  visited their Idimu residence on October 1, everyone at the birthday party  wore long faces. Rather than celebrating with little Elijah who was apparently oblivious of the tragedy that had befallen his family, guests were seen consoling his father.
Elijah on his part, only allowed fair-skinned women to carry him. This was because his mother was light-skinned. His siblings were withdrawn , still finding it difficult to shake off the incident from their memory.
We want justice: When approached,  nine-
year-old Blessing said: “All we want is justice for my family. I want  government to take care of my family. My father is not working anymore since the incident,as  he is  still undergoing treatment at the  Lagos State University Teaching Hospital”.
Narrating how her mother was shot, she said amidst tears: “ We were all in the    Keke Marwa when we heard the gunshot. Immediately, my mummy fell down; she fell on Elijah. She could not move. Blood was all over her . Elijah was crying from where he was trapped under her. My daddy was shouting: ‘They have killed me ooo’. But no body came to help us. Everybody ran away .
“My elder sister, Mary,  was screaming, calling for help. I was the only one that went and held one of the policemen by the trouser. I was shouting at the top of my voice that ‘you people have killed my mummy. Come and take my mummy to the hospital’. Later some policemen came and brought Elijah out of my mummy’s grip. His body was covered with blood.
Police woman
“My Daddy was taken away while a police woman took us to her house and gave us food and water. She told us to sleep that we would see our mummy and daddy next day. But up till now, we have not seen our mummy”.
Call for huge compensation, speedy trial for perpetrator: Her narration triggered
gusts of emotion as some of them burst into tears. The chair person of Women Arise, a non-governmental  organisation, Dr Joe Odumakin, who organised the birthday party for young Elijah, said in an emotion-laden tone :   “There is no one that  can replace Elijah’s mother but we will do our best to see that justice is done.
The deceased was a mother to four kids.  She was a wife. She was deeply committed to family values. She is not here to celebrate her child today but I am sure that she is here in spirit. She was a great woman who  clutched her son to her bosom while she was dying.
We are calling on  the attention of our Police to know that they are supposed to secure lives and property. The death of Elijah’s mother is grave and nothing can bring her back to life and that is why Women Arise is pleading that they should be our friends. Those who err should be punished. Justice must be done.
The killer of Elijah’s mother has been arrested, tried, arraigned and he is now remanded. On October 19, my team,  the victim’s family and well wishers are going to march in black to the Magistrate Court, Ebute Metta to make sure justice is given to the dead 35-year-old Comfort Idongesit Udoh. The last assignment she did was cuddling her baby and urging her other three children to be calm.
There must be a huge compensation for the family even though we know that no amount of money can buy life. She is still in the mortuary and she deserves a befitting burial. We ask for speedy trial for justice to be done. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP   has promised that the children would  be trained in school by the Force but we want it documented so that when a new IGP comes in,  the agreement can still continue.
“Mr Udoh needs to be adequately treated and given a proper business. The  Marwa must be replaced too because he got  it on hire purchase.  We do not want this to happen again. We want a surveillance team that will be monitoring the police.
We are writing and pleading that the government takes care of the family’s accommodation. Also, a trust fund should be set up for the children and  there should also  be health insurance, especially for Mr Udoh who is still undergoing treatment in Lagos state University Teaching Hospital, LUTH”.
Widower’s lamentation: On his part, 45-year-old              Godwin Sunday Udoh who is still recuperating from the bullet that hit his jaw said with tears in his eyes that his wife’s death had created a vacuum in his heart.
According to him: “Today is a special day in the life of my son. My wife said we were going to celebrate him on this day, October 1, but unfortunately she is no more on this earth to celebrate with us. I want  the Lagos State governor to know that what happened is very painful to my children and I.

Man cuts off own penis over rape allegation

A young man has blamed his manhood for leading him To Molest: so he cut it off.
A man identified as Lekan Daramola, in Oke-Aro area of Ogun State, has decided to cut off his weapon of destruction, after he was accused of serial rape.

According to reports, the 34-year-old man was caught in the act of raping his landlord's 12-year-old daughter and after he was beaten, disgraced and paraded around the town, reportedly used a sharp kitchen knife and cut off his manhood.

A neighbour who was a witness to the bloody scene, narrated the incident:
"This is not the first time brother Lekan was caught in the act. Just last year, he was nabbed while raping a street hawker and the area boys beat him almost to death.
He was caught again on three different occasions and the last time, he lured Baba's (landlord) young daughter into his room and while forcefully having carnal knowledge of the girl, her screams attracted neighbours who broke the door of his room and caught him.

He was given the beating of his life and paraded in the town. In the night, we heard screams in his room and when we rushed there, we found him in a pool of his blood with a bloody knife beside him.

As we were rushing him to a nearby hospital, he confessed that he did not know the spirit that always got into him that made him rape girls and that it was better to cut off his joystick."

How to photograph stars

Star trails are pretty cool, there's no doubt about it. A well-executed star trail image gives the viewer a sense of infinity, of the universe on its eternal march through time. But sometimes you don't necessarily want star trails in your photos. They're cool, but they're not what you see with your own eyes when you look up at the sky. Instead, you want to capture the beauty of the night sky as it really is. But here's the problem: it's dark, the stars move, and they move quickly. How can you capture them without a long exposure?

Seven tips on photography

Runway Photo

5. Consider a Monopod and a Bracket

Holding a DSLR and a heavy lens — or perhaps two, depending on the situation — can get heavy. There's not enough room at the end of the runway for tripods, but sometimes you might be able to bring a monopod to support and stabilize your camera. Runway photographers often also mount their speedlights on a bracket, so if you'll be doing a lot of this type of fashion photography, that might be a great addition to your kit.

6. Fast Lenses

You won't be controlling the light level, and may find this is a situation where a fast lens — a lens with a widest aperture of F1.4, F2.0, or F2.8 — may help you keep a fast enough shutter speed to freeze the action. Also, shooting at an aperture like F2.8 or F4 can let you create an image with the model sharply focused and the background thrown out of focus — a good effect in some situations.

7. Take Verticals

Runway photography means vertical shots. You are framing the model from shoes to hat, so turn your camera sideways. As well, this suits the pages of fashion magazines, especially if your goal is the cover. Most DSLR cameras have the option to add a vertical grip — which will make it easy to operate your camera in a vertical position. (Usually, they also let you add a second battery, which may be useful as well. It wouldn't be a good idea to run out of power in the middle of the fashion show.)
Did we mention: get there early, early, early?
